Yinka's Diary Does Not Keep Secrets

By October 31, 2019 No Comments

Yinka told me, inter alia, all those years ago:
“I will be a lawyer, lecturer, and writer – simultaneously. It will be thrilling. I can’t wait to be very busy.”
Yinka got married and birthed children.
Then she explained to me seven months ago:
“Most dreams are just what they are – dreams. I still dream anyway.”
Today, Yinka had a fight – one of many – with her husband. She now writes reluctantly in one of my many pages, hands heavy with the blood of murdered dreams:
“Dreams are only impulses; wild tendencies of an unfettered mind, but reality is a cruel jailor.”
