Titi. No one knew how I got the name. My mother was addicted to tea. She had just given birth to me, faint of strength, and could hardly open her eyes. “What would you like the child to be called?” Father questioned. “Tea, tea”, mother requested. No one heard that. All they heard was Titi. How could a mistake gone wrong be my name? But I have come to love it with its suffix. Titilayomininuoluwa meaning my joy is forever in the Lord. How wrong can that be? I’m a product of addiction and in joy I shall dwell.
