It hung thick in the air, the smell of sweat, faint smell of urine teased my nostrils, bodies pressed together. I closed my eyes tighter, hoping for an escape, but sleep eluded me.
My mind drifted, we were seated around the fire, drinking, taking in the scenery, people chatting around us when I waved at a new friend, the fear kicked in when I realized what I had done, the impact from his palm was immediate. I thought about the heads turning, topics changing. Anger enveloped me, I struck him with the bottle across the head.
There was blood everywhere.
