April Contest

Not the only one.

On the sidewalk awaiting a different customer, daily. Under the blazing African sun and later the seductive moonlight, she’d stand there, half-naked, arms crossed, with eyes devoid of sparkle. She never smiled when she was waved over to a car,but she never hesitated either. It was her responsibility to disregard her fear and safety, or so her parents said. Selling love to man after man, earning by the hour. With each day,yet another light went out within her,but she knew she wasn’t the only one.She was just another African child, she wasn’t the only one.
