My Father's Shoes

By April 12, 2019 No Comments

I’ve had big shoes to fill all my life. My successful Nigerian father’s shoes to be precise.
“Chike– Chike, please obey your father and follow the path he has paved for you,” my mother kept on saying.
Succumbing to my parents was the only life I knew. So I wore my father’s best running shoes. My heart beating to the rhythm of the movement of my feet as I jogged the path my father usually followed.
I smiled as I reached the end of the road, knowing my end too was near and my inhaler was nowhere in sight.
