Ijeawele held unto a time-jump device, with her thumb set on the metallic button that would fling her to the past. More of her father’s words from her teenage days washed ashore. “Where I come from, a man can flirt with unmarried women. For a woman, it’s an abomination, punishable by death.” he had said. A woman should not, a woman should. Everyone had something to say about a woman’s possibilities. She decided, if there was one thing she’d change, it was the fate of the girl-child Ijeawele.
