Bring Back Our Africa

By November 14, 2018 3 Comments

Reminiscing on old African tales told me by my parents. Mom would never relent in passing on her stories about the tortoise while Dad’s were those he termed stories for real African men usually told under the influence of burukutu. He would tell me about the scramble for Africa,Haile Selasie, Herbert Macaulay and his contemporaries but my most cherished moments were the times he would mimic the slightly powerful Igbo accent of Azikiwe even though Dad was Proudly Hausa. It’s 1982, Dad is gone but I take solace in stories he told about the lucid and incorruptible moments of Africa.
