At her feet a hybrid of natural and relaxed hair lay. The scissors was the forerunner of the blade in cutting down that uncomely blend of soft and coarse hair. After that commercial about women of colour, she couldn’t carry relaxed hair anymore. It felt easy. She was African. The African way isn’t easy. It took daring and proving oneself to eventually stand out, yet she was ready to undergo the rigours of moisturizing and combing.
