A Shot & A But…

I had prayed for a sign, a whisper of doom, anything at all to stay my hands from typing those words.
I remembered, how when I was left with the last bullet, my heart had raced crazily. Somehow, fearfully, I had fired.
It exploded in my head, nearly stopping my heartbeat.
The emotion jarring sounds as my neighbours rent the night air with lusty screams, while I drowned in love’s treacherous streams.
I let everything fade into the distance, waiting for doom to come in the morning, politely garbed.
I heard the beep, it read, “I really like you, but….”
